Established in 2009, Blackwater aims to assist governmental agencies in making well-informed decisions integrating environmental and equitable community values early into the project planning process.

Blackwater Environmental Group is multi-state certified as a minority, disadvantaged, women-owned, small business enterprise (MBE/DBE/WBE/SBE), specializing in environmental planning, public engagement, grants, and related services. Leveraging our over 30 years of experience with transportation agencies, we develop unique and effective solutions for complex projects and tasks.

Our Story

Caryn J.G. Brookman founded Blackwater in 2009, with the purpose of providing environmental planning and related services in the transportation sector that were not just acceptable but exceptional. The business moniker pays homage to her hometown of Cambridge, Maryland, home to the magnificent Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. Over the past decade, Caryn has built a team of innovative, knowledgeable, and experienced professionals who strive to exceed the standard.

Our team here at Blackwater is comprised of senior industry leaders that are committed to creating innovative solutions that help our clients streamline existing processes, minimize environmental impact, and have long-lasting benefits to transportation users and surrounding communities.
